Beauty News // Sophia Loren For Dolce & Gabbana At Age 81

SophiaLorenDolceGabbana1 © Dolce & Gabbana Instagram

If I had to name one Italian fashion label that never neglects its roots, it would be Dolce & Gabbana, without a doubt. The designing duo has shown their love for their Italian / Sicilian roots in multiple collections throughout the years and they continue to do so for their beauty line as well.

At the age of 81, Italian Academy Award winning actress Sophia Loren is the new face of the Dolce & Gabbana Beauty campaign. Growing up in an Italian household, I also grew up with Sophia being the epitome of Italian beauty, class and grace. Dolce & Gabbana created a limited edition lipstick in Sophia's honor, which comes in a golden tube with her autograph engraved on it. It also comes with a beautiful, collector's item worthy, box (see it in the second picture below). Here's what the duo has the say about the lipstick:

"More than just a lipstick, Sophia Loren N°1 is a loving tribute from Dolce & Gabbana to Sophia and all women. The colour makes it truly unique: a bright cherry red created by the designers with Sophia Loren to enhance the deep pigmentation of her lips. It's her red, it's her signature."

After letting Italian actress Monica Bellucci star in their campaigns for years, Dolce & Gabbana went for another mature, voluptuous woman -- breaking the pattern of the classic topmodel image: young and preferably without too many curves. I can only encourage Dolce & Gabbana's view on this and for showing us that beauty can be found in all ages and shapes.

The lipstick was released only yesterday, but I wish you good luck on getting your hands on one (if you're planning to). I've read that the lipstick is already sold out in most places.

Money VS Budget // Dolce & Gabbana VS H&M

DolceHM
I came across these gorgeous lace ankle boots at the H&M in Dusseldorf two days ago. Getting a Dolce & Gabbana-flashback, I immediately took them home with me. They are very comfortable -- I wore them to my aunt's birthday party yesterday and my feet didn't hurt a bit.

I combined them with a pencil skirt and silk blouse yesterday and I can't wait to see how they look with a pair of skinny jeans or a (lace) dress. It's been a while since I've been this excited about a pair of shoes. The lace pattern make them look like a pair of designer booties, don't you think?

Go for the original Dolce & Gabbana's here or get the budget friendly version by H&M here.

Beauty // Dolce & Gabbana 'Sicilian Jewels' Collection, Part II

DSC04524
Remember when I was freaking out about the Dolce & Gabbana 'Sicilian Jewels' collection here? And how I said I would try to do anything to get my hands on my favorite items? After calling stores in Belgium and the Netherlands without any luck, my friend Karen told me that the collection was available online at Harrods. Needless to day that we immediately placed an order, even if I rarely buy something online.

I decided to go for the red and purple lipstick, called 'Rubino' and 'Ametista'. Red because I'm addicted to any type of red lipstick (you can never go wrong with red, never ever) and purple because it's one of my favorite colors in general. Simple as that.

I tried both of them today and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on them, especially on the purple one.

Beauty // Dolce & Gabbana 'Sicilian Jewels' Collection, Part I

DGLipstick
Holy Mother and Joseph! I ain't turning into a religious soul now, but that was exactly what I was thinking when I saw the Dolce & Gabbana 'Sicilian Jewels' collection. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are taking the terms 'lipstick' and 'shades' to a whole new level. Aren't these colors to die for? And, before I forget... They're limited edition, which makes me even more anxious (because I need them, all of them).

The 'Sicilian Jewels' collection exists out of four colors, inspired by the luxurious gemstones amethyst (purple), ruby (red), emerald (green) and topaz (yellow). The designers got inspired by the jewels of their native Sicily and have been working with these materials on a steady basis. We all still remember that outrageous F/W '13 RTW runway collection, don't we? I know that these colors might be too much for most people - except for the ruby one, maybe - but how cool would it be to wear them during a Christmas dinner or New Year's Eve party? I'm thinking: an all black outfit and the hair pulled back into a tight pony tail. Make those lips pop, baby! You could even add a touch of eyeliner for an extra dramatic look.

What do you think? Amazeballs or even too much for a crazy, YOLO night out?

The Dolce & Gabbana 'Sicilian Jewels' collection is limited edition and will be available from 1st November.

Magnum City Hunt // Introducing ... Bethsabee

Picture: Bethsabee Facebook Page

When I was looking at the list of the participating stores in the Magnum Pleasure City Hunt, I was excited to see Bethsabee on it. Whenever I'm in Hasselt, I always stop by, even if it's to do window shopping most of the time. Oh, the horrors of being a student!

Bethsabee sells the most exquisite footwear of the most drool worthy brands:
Gucci, Prada, Miu Miu, Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Dior, Balenciaga ... They also sell tons of Gucci and Miu Miu accessories. Sounds good, huh? Got a boyfriend / husband who's addicted to shoe shopping too? Maybe he'll find nice pair here as well, 'cause Bethsabee sells goodies for both sexes.

I thought it would be nice to share some pictures I snapped at Bethsabee during the Magnum Pleasure City Hunt. A report of the Hunt is coming up in the next few days, so stay tuned!

Outfit // Faux Fur & Leather

You might notice something different ... I'm wearing glasses from now on - orders of the eye specialist. I've been wearing glasses ever since I was 7 years old, but I switched to contacts as soon as I was allowed to. Well, that wasn't such a great idea ... My eyes are damaged of wearing contacts non stop, so I have to wear glasses for 6 months straight. My eyesight is really bad (I have - 11 on both eyes now), so the lenses of my glasses are really thick. Just so you know, in case you were wondering why my glasses are deforming my eyes / head. I know that almost everyone is wearing these type of glasses now, but because of the thick lenses, I had no other option. What do you think?

As for the outfit, I opted for faux leather pants, a faux leather jacket and a faux fur vest. I'm also wearing knee high leather boots and I like the fact that they kinda blend in with the pants, making them almost invisible. Temperatures are staring to go down at a high speed now, but as long it isn't snowing, I won't complain too much. My dad bought me this bag when we were on a holiday in Sicily three years ago. The bag's shape is totally ruined (which is my own fault), but I still love it.

With animal prints being one of the trends this moment, you literally see it everywhere. I like animal prints in outfits, unless it's not too much, since it can look tacky in a second. So I decided to keep the print low key, only adding it to my accessories. These safari pants are one of the best purchases ever: comfortable yet versatile - I love 'em!

Are you a fan of animal prints?

Random // In The Morning

Photobucket

Waking up early when you have the chance to sleep in isn't that fun, but it has some advantages too. When I sleep in, I sleep until 9.30 am at the latest. I'm not that type of person to sleep in until 2 in the afternoon. There's so much you can do during that precious time and I don't like my days go to waste due to being lazy and not wanting to get out of bed.

Today was one of those days: I had the chance to sleep in, but was already awake at 8 am. This gave me the chance to clean the house bit - and making my mom happy - and check my favorite blogs and websites at ease afterwards. After I did all that, I took out my camera and tried to take some pictures of, well... Nothing special, basically. This is what happens when I get bored. :D

Here are some random pictures taken during the morning, and since my photographer was out working, I did an attempt to take some 'outfit' pictures myself. So excusez-moi for the crappy pictures!

The Color Purple

Channeling my inner Oprah with the title of this post, but it was the first thing
that popped up my mind when I noticed all of the purple items my sister and I own.

Above, my Versace shoes, which only appeared on the blog once and which I'll have
to wear more often.

First Winter Outfit

As I told you a couple of times before, I absolutely hate
winter clothes, but the freezing weather of the past couple
of weeks forced me to change my spring-style way of clothing
this winter.

So, here it is: a quick post to show you my first 'suitable'
winter outfit.
Why I hate winter clothes? They really make me feel 'trapped'
and they itch like hell -- This outfit wasn't an exception!
Okay, enough complaining, I think you get the picture.

Trying to avoid another all-black outfit, I chose a cream
and brown-outfit. I'm not sure what to think about the
change, though. :)

P.S.: Sorry for the sleepy and tired face. These days of work
and studying are showing already...

Christmas: The Presents

First of all: Merry Christmas!
As you can see, I didn't receive that many presents last night.
I asked for money, so that I can buy some things I really want
and need.

Nevertheless, here are some of the presents I did receive:

1. Maxi dress received from my aunt. Still figuring out when I
can wear this. :D
2. Miss Dior Chérie-perfume. I always wear this perfume, I love
the sweet scent.
3. Dolce & Gabbana-bag. To be honest: this is my mom's present,
but of course, I can't wait to wear the bag myself. I already
brainstormed about possible outfits to wear this bag with. :D

What were your presents?

Snowy & Cold

Yesterday was extremely cold and it snowed AGAIN.
God, I can't wait for summer to begin...

Since didn't own any suitable shoes for winter, and it has been so cold outside
the last couple of weeks, I decided it was high time to find some nice shoes.
I found these brown with shearling wedges at New Look, and I must
admit that they walk like heaven!

These pictures were taken before my mom and I went to Maasmechelen Village,
an outlet centre in my home town.
A new shoe store opened there, and they sell Michael Kors, See by Chloé and
Sam Edelman-shoes. I bought some Sam Edelman-ankle boots which I'll show you
tomorrow!

I Love ... Bandshirts.

Hi guys!

First of all, I would like to apologize for the lack of posts.
School has started this Monday, so I'm busy with organizing my books and some paperwork.

As you may have noticed from my previous posts,
I'm a big fan of printed T-shirts, but most of all shirts of my most favorite bands.
So, I decided to show you the ones I wear most,
since showing them all would take me forever!

One shirt is missing, though.
My The Doors-shirt with Jim Morrison is in the laundry,
but I'll show that one in one of my next posts. :)

I hope you can appreciate these kind of posts.
Let me know which shirt you (don't) like. :)

P.S.: The shirts are so 'wrinkly' because I took them out of my closet
to take some pictures, so you still see the folding lines!

Iggy (Pop) & The Stooges.
One of my most favorite 'songs' is "Punkrock" by Mogwai, where a piece of Iggy Pop's interview
is used. He's talking about punkrock, of course. You should listen to it or search the lyrics,
it's amazing!

Going Classic

Hi guys!

I got to quit early from work today, since there was nothing to do.
It gave me to opportunity to wear the new jacket I bought yesterday.
It's a classic, black jacket - to me, an item everyone must have in their closet - with 'puffy' shoulders.
To avoid looking like a total clown, I decided to keep the rest of my outfit simple.

I'm wearing a Dolce & Gabbana-bag, the Miss Marylou-bag to be more specific,
and I really should wear it more often.
It was a gift from my dad when we were on a holiday in Sicily last summer.
I can still remember passing by the store.
The bag was stalled out, with a spotlight pointed at it, and I immediately fell in love.
My dad needed to be convinced a little bit more, but I managed in the end. ;)

Sorry for the terrible quality of the pictures.
My photographer a.k.a. my sister isn't home during the week and my mom isn't the best photographer,
so I have to take pictures of my outfits myself.
But I really have to buy a decent camera, 'cause this just ain't fun anymore!
Since I didn't manage to take a nice close-up picture of my bag, I decided to look for one on the Internet.
Mine's more dark brown, though.

P.S. As you may have noticed, I cut my hair a couple of days ago - and I totally regret it!
I told the hairdresser to only cut a little piece off, but as you can tell from my previous post,
she didn't manage at all.
I look like a 12-year-old now!

Event // The Sartorialist's Exhibition At Maasmechelen Village

As you already may know, my sister and I will be meeting  Scott Schuman / The Sartorialist at Maasmechelen Village tomorrow. There's an expo running about him right now, and he will be at Maasmechelen Village for the closing of the expo.

My sister and I decided to have a look at the expo already, and we took some pictures too. I've decided to show you some pictures right now, but only those pictures that don't give too much away.
Don't want to ruin the surprise, do we? :)

Outfit // The Man Who Sold The World

The weather is still nice, even though it's not that warm as it was a couple of days ago. But that couldn't stop me from wearing my favourite faux leather jacket I bought at Bershka 4 years ago. It was a great buy for a great price and it survived most of my other leather jackets - more expensive ones that I bought at Mango, for example. That's why I love this jacket so much: it wasn't expensive, but it has lasted for over the years.

And again, I'm wearing a 'bandshirt'. This time a David Bowie-shirt I bought at Dolce & Gabbana last year. When I was younger, I always wanted my eyes to have different colours, just like David Bowie.
And in my opinion, he's still looking pretty good for a 63-year-old - not to mention that he makes great music.

Shark Attack Talks... // Designer Clothes Bad For Our Health?

I found an article on the website of the Dutch Grazia, stating that designer clothes' quality is very bad and that they even might be bad for our health. Chinese investigators say that clothes of Versace, Hermès, Paul & Shark, Hugo Boss, Dolce & Gabbana (and others) contain formaldehyde, a substance that might cause skin and eye irritations, allergies and even cancer.

Up 'till now, I never had any problems with any of my 'more expensive' clothes, so I'll keep wearing them. :)

Here are some pictures of one of my favourite D&G collections, the Fall 2009 RTW collection. I made a post about the collection once. I don't know about the bad substances, but the clothes don't seem of bad quality to me.

What do you think?

Outfit // New Shoes

My sister and I were shopping when I saw these Versace shoes. I'd seen them a couple of times before, but I wasn't too sure about them. I was afraid I would never wear them because of the colour and print.

As I used to do before, I entered the Versace store to look at them once again. I now noticed that they were being sold at a very good price, so I decided that it was some kind of sign and I bought them. I must admit that they are a bit painful to walk in, but beauty is pain, right?
