People who know me also know that I don't tend to wear lots of jewelry. I do have a couple of pieces that I grab to from time to time, like my YSL Arty Ring or Hermès bracelet (both gifts from my parents), but other from that you won't see any armparty or other types of jewelry on me any time soon.

For the past couple of weeks, my mom has been giving me a hard time about not wearing any jewelry. According to her, all girls should wear a nice bracelet or a pretty pair of earrings. But I must admit that, when I'm on Tumblr or Pinterest, I definitely can enjoy a nice piece of jewelry. So I decided to get out of my comfort zone and to purchase two pair of earrings to get me started.

Curious to see which ones I got?

Beauty // Labello 'Classic Care', 'Med Protection' & 'Pearly Shine'

Labello1
Freezing temperatures, an ice cold wind and even a snowflake every once in a while... Winter is definitely upon us here in Belgium. Every year again during winter, I have to adjust my skincare routine. My skin tends to get extremely dry and itchy, forcing me to go on the defense with body butters and oils.

Another area to pay extra attention to during this season: the lips. Dry and busted lips are not only painful, but it's just not a pretty thing to look at. Especially if you're a (matte) lipstick love as I am. Really, I find it one of the worst - beauty related - things one can do: apply lipstick on dry lips. People tend to forget that the lips are very fragile and sensitive and need special care.

What is the difference between your lips and the rest of your face exactly?

* The skin on the lips is very thin
* The lips don't contain any sebaceous glands, which usually prevent dehydration
* They also don't contain any melanin, a natural pigments that protects the lips agains UVA rays

I really can't emphasize the importance of a good lip balm (during winter and summer as well). I use lip balm (with SPF) every single day, before applying my lipstick. However, I have noticed that a lot of lip balms just leave a waxy base behind instead of nurturing the lips.

One that always does the trick for me is Labello. When I was younger, I used to collect Labello lip balms, which came (and still come) in tons of fruity scents / flavors. My dad wouldn't allow me to wear make up until I was 16 years old ("Kids need to stay kids as long as possible"), so I would go for these ones instead. And 9 years later, I'm still using them.

Labello sent me 3 of their top products during the holidays and I was super excited when it hit me that I could write a post about the importance of lip care now.

Curious yet?

Shark Attack Loves ... // Polette 'Vogue' Sunglasses

PoletteVogue2
Pardon me for the grumpy face, but these pictures were taken on New Year's Day aka the day in which I came home at 6 in the morning from celebrating New Year's Eve. The gentle winter sun shining that day and the huge bags under my eyes, were the perfect opportunity to take out my new sunglasses from Polette, a French online optician.

As a fashion blogger, I'm always interested in discovering and collaborating with new brands. So, when the Polette PR team approached me with the company's concept and history, I have to say that I was quite intrigued. Polette was founded by Pierre Wizman, an entrepreneur who decided to leave school and start his own company at the age of 16. The team behind Polette try to distinguish their company from others by functioning as the only intermediate between the factory and the customer, which gives them the opportunity to sell their (sun)glasses at low prices, without affecting the quality of the goods. All of this makes them quite a market leader in France. Thumbs up for young talent!

Sunglasses have always been one of my addictions (next to lipsticks and shoes) and I love to go for the more bolder types. Polette offers more than 900 designs, needless to say that it was hard to pick just one, but I decided to go for their Vogue sunglasses. I love the shape, the printed frame and the see through, yet tinted glasses which seem to give the glasses a vintage touch.

What do you think of my new sunnies?

Review // MAC x Prabal Gurung 'Ultramarine Pink' & 'Carmine Rouge' Lipsticks

MACxPrabalGurung5
I'm not sure what happened to the quality of these pictures, but as you can see, the quality turned into crap. #cries I also shot other beauty products that same day and it also happened to those pictures as well, so I just wanted to give you a heads up aka 'Expect some crap pictures in the next posts' while I'll try to figure out what went wrong in the meantime...

I know I'm kinda late with this post on the MAC x Prabal Gurung collection, but I honestly wasn't even counting on finding it on stores anymore. But I did! I went shopping in Antwerp a couple of days ago and there will still quite some items available. Score! I snatched up the lipsticks Ultramarine Pink and Carmine Rouge. My bestie Dario always asked me what I'm planning to do with "another lipstick", but I just can't help myself. If there happens to be a ALA (Anonymous Lipstick Addicts) somewhere, do let me know.

Prabal Gurung is a fashion designer based in New York City and is from Nepalese descent. He launched his career in New Delhi, India and when he moved to New York City, Prabal Gurung interned for Donna Karan while attending the famous Parsons School of Design. He showcased his first collection during New York Fashion Week in February 2009 and has dressed major celebrities and royals such as Oprah, Michelle Obama, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Middleton, Lady Gaga and many more.
