Christmas Tip // www.luxedy.com

JuliDansJewels1
November has come to an end, which means that we officially can kick off Christmas season! I'll be playing Last Christmas by Wham on repeat starting today, which is my yearly tradition. Unfortunately, December (to me, personally) also means that dreadful experience of finding the perfect Christmas presents. I'm the worst at it: I always start my search way too late and I never have the inspiration to come up with something unique or original.

Luckily, my search got a little bit easier when I bumped into Luxedy quite some time ago: my personal online hotspot whenever I want to buy one of my girlfriends something pretty. The website is stacked with gorgeous and affordable jewelry. I recently got these adorable Juli Dans Jewels bracelets and I love them! My wardrobe mainly consist out of black clothing and the bracelets add the right pop of color to my outfits.

The Rigid Clover bracelet (top) is my favorite and is perfect to give to your girlfriend, mom, sister ... for Christmas. With a clover symbolizing good luck, it's the perfect lucky charm to give or receive. Another fun thing to know: all of the Juli Dans Jewels are gold-plated with 18 carat gold.

Have fun shopping!

Detail // Sharks & Pearls

People who know me also know that I don't tend to wear lots of jewelry. I do have a couple of pieces that I grab to from time to time, like my YSL Arty Ring or Hermès bracelet (both gifts from my parents), but other from that you won't see any armparty or other types of jewelry on me any time soon.

For the past couple of weeks, my mom has been giving me a hard time about not wearing any jewelry. According to her, all girls should wear a nice bracelet or a pretty pair of earrings. But I must admit that, when I'm on Tumblr or Pinterest, I definitely can enjoy a nice piece of jewelry. So I decided to get out of my comfort zone and to purchase two pair of earrings to get me started.

Curious to see which ones I got?

New // V Necklace By Lobogato

DSC05024
Santa came early this year and gifted me this gorgeous necklace by Lobogato. Lobogato is a Belgian jewelry brand, founded by Veerle and Katrijn. From all the items they offer, their necklaces are my favorite; they're so feminine and delicate. All of the items are handmade and some of them can even be personalized. You can get a personalized hand stamped necklace here or go for the locket here, which can be pimped with your favorite photo inside. They're the perfect gift to give to one of your loved ones, especially with Christmas around the corner.

Lobogato nailed it by sending me their V-shape necklace, since the V hides so much symbolism (for me). It's best known as a peace sign, even though in Great-Britain (and colonies) it means something like 'f*ck you', depending on which part of your hand you're showing. It's also the Roman five and others also believe it's a symbol designating hatred towards Christians, thanks to Emperor Nero. Others even link it to Satanism and the occult. 'V For Vendetta' is one of my favorite movies and in one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs 'Jeremy', Eddie Vedder sings:

"At home, drawing pictures of mountain tops. With him on top, lemon yellow sun. Arms raised in a V..."

The song is about 15-year-old Jeremy Wade Delle, who shot himself in front of his English class on January 8, 1991.

So you see, it has a lot of meanings to me. I can hear y'all thinking: "How the hell does she know all that?" Well, during my education as a history teacher, we learned a lot about symbols and symbolism. I have always found it quite fascinating and did a lot of research on my own, so there you go.

I would like to thank Veerle and Katrijn from Lobogato for the lovely gift.

Necklace: Thanks to LOBOGATO

I was walking around at H&M and saw tons of these fingernail rings. I feel a new trend coming here.
What do you think? Yes or no? I'm pro for this one!

New // Liberty Necklace

 photo IMG_1162_zps90ad3246.jpg
Ever since Carrie Bradshaw wore a customised name necklace in the Sex And The City-series, it quickly became an it-item. It's cute, it's something personal and it's the perfect way to remember someone's name if you, like me, have some trouble with that. #OopsieMoment

A while ago, I got an email from Mijn Naamketting, a Dutch website which designs and sells customised name necklaces. They're hosting a month dedicated to women and they were looking for empowering women -- that's how they called it. Me? Empowering? I'm quite honored, I must say. They asked me if I would like to be gifted a necklace with one of my favorite words. The word had to represent what it means for me to be a woman and a blogger. So, here's the story behind the word I've chosen...

Liberty: the condition of being free from restriction or control. The right and power to act, believe, or express oneself in a manner of one's own choosing.

That's what I believe in. I've always been a free spirit, looking for new ways to test my limits. It gave my parents quite some headaches and ulcers, but I'm 100 % convinced that the best way to learn about life is to live it to the fullest, mistakes and failures included. Being a woman, I often hear people say: "That's different, because you're a woman." God, how I detest it when people talk like that. As a teenager, I kept playing Christina Aguilera's song 'Can't Hold Us Down' over and over again. The cliché that men are allowed to do more than women, purely based on their gender, should be banned for all eternity.

What it means to me as a blogger? Easy peasy. The fact that this is MY blog, MY personal space, that I can wear what I want, write about what I want... That's what I love most about blogging. No restrictions, no limits. Hell, I can even publish 10 blog posts a day if I want to. There's no one that can tell me what I can or cannot do and padapapapaaaa... I'm loving it! Sorry, lame McDonald's-moment. See? This is exactly what I mean with the above. I can even write about lame McDonald's-moments if I want to.

Now, just out of curiosity... Which word would you pick to represent yourself as a woman (and blogger)?

Shark Attack Loves... // The Bold And The Casual

Photobucket
Meadham Kirchoff S/S '13

I'm still struggling to find a balance between working and blogging. I can't find the time to shoot outfit pictures, since I have to prepare the lessons that I want to teach my students, have to correct tests and so on. Plus, the things I'm wearing to teach aren't that special. Anyway, because of all that, I only find myself browsing for inspirational pictures like the one above -- for now. I'm positive that, once I've found my way into the teaching world, I'll be back into my old routine. I hope y'all will still be here with me.

Looking at the picture above, I kinda want to slap myself for not buying that emerald statement necklace at Zara a while ago. I loved it, was holding in my hands while doubting... And I decided to leave it there, because I thought I wouldn't wear it that much. Of course, it's sold out now. It popped up on tons of blogs in no time. But I'm still keeping my eyes open, searching for another pretty statement necklace. If you have any advice on where to find them, do let me know! The mix between bold and casual is absolutely perfect.

I found this picture while browsing on Tumblr. You can follow me here if you want. Leave me a comment with your Tumblr-profile too. I love to discover new profiles. New profiles = new inspiration!

New // House Of Harlow 1960 Sunburst Necklace

Photobucket
A while ago, I was contacted by the sweet people at Winston & Celeste, asking for a collaboration with Shark Attack. I'm always quite hesitant about things like that and I only accept if the brand represents items I would wear myself. So, I clicked around their website and I was immediately hooked.

Winston & Celeste focuses on high-end American jewelry brands which are hard to find in Europe. They even add photos to show you which celebrity wears the same bracelet, necklace... you're about to purchase. Lets be honest: it's always exciting to see a Hollywood starlet wearing an item you own too, right?

Anyway, when I saw that they sell House Of Harlow 1960, I couldn't be more exited. I've been a fan of Nicole Richie ever since she starred in The Simple Life. Even though those colored extensions were the shit back then, I must say that I like her gypsy/bohemian style more. And since I'm a huge fan of big golden jewelry, her designs have found a way into my heart in no time. So I decided to click the well known Sunburst Necklace home. I received my package after 3 days (one holiday included), which was a big plus, since I'm not the most patient person to be around. I think it's safe to say that I have a new favorite piece of jewelry!

If you see something you like on the Winston & Celeste-website, don't forget to enter 'SHARK10', which will give you a 10% discount! They ship all over Europe and if you live in Belgium, shipping won't cost you a penny.

Happy shopping and let me know what you got!

New // ASOS Jewelry

Photobucket
I just received my first ASOS package! I've always been paranoia about ordering online, afraid that something will happen to my package or that the items aren't the way I expected them to be. My friend Hille got me an ASOS gift voucher for my 22nd birthday (which was in November last year), so I had no other option this time. I'm glad I did, though!
