I've been loving history as long as I can remember; it was my favorite class in high school and I finished my bachelor in history and English. Ancient Egypt has always caught my curiousity and triggered me to read and learn about it. We know so much, yet so little about it.

I remember that in high school, my class had to pick an historic figure and give a speech about it. My choice was Tutankhamun, or also known as King Tut. This young pharaoh ruled during the 18th dynasty and even though he didn't accomplish anything admirable during his reign, we all know him. Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley Of The Kings on 4 November 1922; one day before my birthday. Coincidence? I think not. Sorry, I can be very obsessive when it comes to Ancient Egypt. Anyway, he did not only discover King Tut's mummified body, but also a huge treasure that was scattered all over the tomb. The most valuable and well known item that was found that day, is Tut's solid gold burial mask. It was always a dream of mine to discover a pharaoh's tomb that has been left untouched - since most of them have been raided by thieves - but I think it's safe to say that it ain't gonna happen any time soon (or ever, for that matter). I could go on about this topic for days, but at least now you know why I'm such a huge history lover.

Anyway, back to my high school days. I gave my speech about Tutankhamun and got an A+. The teacher even forgave me for talking about Howard Hughes instead of Howard Carter. I had seen the movie 'The Aviator' just the day before - they were playing it on TV - and he had seen it too, so he understood the mix up and was quite amused about it.

When Fusion Clothing gave me the opportunity to choose one of their sweaters, I immediately clicked the King Tut sweater home. I just L-O-V-E it. I love how bold and eye catching the sweater is. You really don't need more to pimp out your outfit to the max. Even though we are experiencing tropical temperatures here in Belgium the last couple of days, I still found a way to make the sweater work: tank top, denim short and my beloved sweater tied around my waist.

What do you think?

Give Away // Neckermann-Cadeaubon T.W.V. € 150

NeckermannSharkAttack
*This give away is only for my Dutch readers. Don't worry, there will be more (international) fun in the future! #Wink*

Beauty // MAC X Marge Collection To Launch This Fall

TheSimpsonsxMAC
Move over, Lorde! Back in May, MAC already announced a limited edition collaboration with the only woman who can pull off yellow skin and blue hair: Marge Simpson. Giving us nothing but a small teaser back then, MAC has now released a first official image of some of the products. The collection is said to consist out of about 10 products, among which are eyeshadow palettes, lip glosses (neon yellow and bright blue / purple, as rumor has it), blushes, false eyelashes and nail stickers. With this collab, MAC is paying the perfect tribute to The Simpsons' 25th anniversary:

"On the occasion of their 25th anniversary, MAC celebrates everyone’s favorite animated family, The Simpsons, with a vivacious color collection that can only be described in one word: Eeeeexcellent. Debuts this fall."

I already spoke out about my love for The Simpsons here and the fact that the products are said to be given names such as 'Nacho Cheese Explosion', 'Itchy & Scratchy & Sexy' and 'Beehive Blue' makes me want to have them even more. The packaging is all about Marge and judging by the picture above, she sure knows how to give her best smizing bitchface. Tyra would be proud!

The MAC X Marge collection will first be available on 26 July, during San Diego's Comic-Con. The attendees will have access to the MAC Cosmetics store at the Gaslamp District during a one-day sale. Others, like myself, will have to wait until 28 August when the collection will be sold online or until 4 September when the collection will hit the stores.

I know I will definitely try to get my hands on some goodies.
Will you?

Trend // Jelly Beach Sandals

JellySandals1
KARTELL // UNKNOWN // SEE BY CHLOE

What is it with 'ugly' shoes becoming the it-item out of nowhere? You're now a fashion outsider if you don't own a pair of Birkenstocks (you can ban me to the deepest pits of hell, but you'll never see me wearing them), the Adidas slippers and white socks combo is no longer a taboo (read all about it here) and it looks like the (in)famous jelly beach sandals are making a comeback again too!

We all know them and we all had them: jelly sandals that our parents got us whenever they planned a trip to the seaside. They were - or still are - perfect to walk over that damn hot sand like a boss and protected your feet of everything sharp or icky laying on the bottom of the ocean; I'm taking sea shells and sea weed. And the best part? They came in every color possible, making sure you could find a pair that matched your bathing suit perfectly. Aaah, so many memories.

I've been a fan of jelly sandals since forever. I got the flashy, almost blinding, pink jelly sandals by See By Chloé four years ago (see here) and a second pair by Kartell followed quickly (see here). But the original, iconic jelly beach sandal has been present my whole life: my parents got me a baby yellow pair to walk the beaches of Italy as a little kid, I then got the see through pair in the middle during my stay in Sicily due to rocky beaches that hurt like a motherf*cker and also wore that very pair to several festivals. They survive every weather condition, believe me. If they're dirty, just take a water hose, spray some water over them and they're as good as new. Oh, and they're super cheap.

That being said, I know that you'll either love this trend with all your heart, or hate it with every bone in your body. I think the jellies are cute, easy, fun and also think that they add a dose of cuteness and innocence to every look. I've collected some pictures for you to get some inspiration and will also tell you where you can shop them.

What do you think? I can't wait to here your thoughts on this one!

Review // M.A.C. 'In Extreme Dimension Lash' Mascara

MACInExtremeDimensionLash3
Time to review a new product! In yesterday's post, you could read that I attended the opening of the new M.A.C.-store in Leuven. I received their 'In Extreme Dimension Lash' as a gift and couldn't wait to try it. I don't have one favorite mascara that I tend to stick to; I love to experiment and try out different ones.

M.A.C. is one of my favorite make up brands when it comes to lipsticks and concealers, but I never tried one of their mascaras before. Needless to say that I was super excited when I was gifted this one.

So, what does the 'In Extreme Dimension Lash' mascara promise to do?

"M.A.C.'s lightweight whipped formula saturates lashes root to tip, adds volume, extends length and creates curl, while conditioning for softness and flexibility. The final result: extreme dimension that won't smudge, clump or flake."

You can find the M.A.C. 'In Extreme Dimension Lash' mascara on the M.A.C. website or at the M.A.C counters and stores for € 22 / $ 21

Event // Opening M.A.C. Leuven

MACLeuven12
Whenever you get an email with the words 'M.A.C.' and 'invitation' in its subject, you know you just gotta hit that RSVP button. And so I did when I got invited to the opening of the new M.A.C.-store in Leuven. The new store has a fresh and funky vibe to it and even though it isn't the biggest store and it isn't a M.A.C. Pro-store either, you'll still find everything you need right here.

There was tons of make up, music, drinks and even a writing wall -- and I had the honor to be the first one to write on it! #SharkAttackLovesMAC
I also was kindly invited to get my make up done and I really just enjoyed everything about this event. The relaxed atmosphere, the new people I met and the old friends I got to see again... M.A.C. just can't do anything wrong for me. For the moment, I'm using their highlighter, concealer and lipsticks -- I'm already dreading the day that my 'Riri Woo' lipstick will finish; thank God there's 'Ruby Woo' as well.

Anyway, they say that a picture says more than a thousand words, so here are a dozen of them after the jump; just so you can see what I'm talking about, you know?
